Thompson wins an absolute bloody war in Manchester!!
On Saturday Feb 24th Jacob Thompson took on Jay Counsel in the first round of the Hitman Fight League 4 man tournament, Road to One, up at Trafford Park in Manchester.
Jacob wasted no time coming out ready to bang straight from the first bell. He landed several nice kicks early to set up his hands and quickly settled in to find his range. Jay Counsel fired back but Jacob looked too sharp and too strong early on finding a home for several lovely combinations. Counsel got dropped twice in the first round taking counts both times. Thompson landed some massive shots wobbling Counsel who done well stay in it all be it on wobbly legs.
In the 2nd round Counsel dug deep and staged a come back putting much better combos together and started to time his shots better catching Thompson several times and rocking him on several occasions. Thompson weathered this storm and stayed on his feet and in the fight as both fighters exchanged big shots.
In the third round both fighters were bloody and bruised but continued to bang. After the first minute Thomason’s power and accuracy shone through and he overwhelmed Counsel to take the win by unanimous decision.
This was an absolute bloody, barn burner of a fight. It has to be fight of night and in contention for fight of the year! Both fighters put it all on the line and put on a hell of a show! Both men are absolute warriors and showed so much heart and skill in this bloody war.
