JUNIOR MUAY THAI

The junior Muay Thai class runs from 5pm-6pm every Wednesday even (during school holidays) with a new class being added soon.

We have a good mix of both of boys and girls and the junior Muay Thai class takes participants from age 6 all the way up to 15. No experience is necessary, we welcome all levels and abilities.

Having your own equipment isn’t necessary for a first session as we do have spare gloves and shinguards, however these are limited so if your child is looking to pursue the sport I would recommend getting some shinguards and a pair of gloves. Any help regarding this please feel free to contact Megan using the number listed below.

Class structure:

Classes start with a 10 minute warmup before moveing on to technique based pad work that is adjusted depending on skill level. Students will then get a chance to perform the technique in front of the class. (although this is not mandatory it is encouraged to help build confidence.) The techniques change every week to help the students gain a well rounded knowledge of the sport and find out what works for them and their individual styles. The class finishes with a few conditioning drills and depending on time and skill level in the class we may do 10 minutes of sparring. The class then ends with a show of respect, the student will line up, Wai (Thai display of respect) to the instructor, the temple and then to each other.  Due to many juniors wanting to compete this year we are looking to start a sparring class alongside the weekly technique based class and an update regarding this will be provided shortly.

“I believe Muay Thai is such a good sport to get the Juniors off their tablets and doing something that’s fantastic for both the mind and body. Muay Thai helps with confidence, mental health, overall fitness, and is a fun way to incorporate a little bit of discipline while burning some energy and getting fitter and stronger in the process. It has been so rewarding to watch the juniors grow and develop in so many ways. Many who have been too shy to even step on the mats are now demonstrating in front of the class every week without a worry and it’s heartwarming to see their confidence shine.”

This class is dedicated to providing a safe environment for students to learn and develop their skills, and indirectly allows the juniors to develop great skills for everyday life, such as discipline and confidence.
