Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructo

James started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2007 under Lee Catlin, as part of Gracie Barra, back home in Essex. After some time off the mats with Injuries, travelling, moving jobs etc he joined Hertford Combat Academy as a blue belt in January 2017 and started his training under Ben Hajir as part of the Odyssey BJJ team, headed up by Michael Russell.

Since joining Hertford Combat Academy James has trained consistently, competed several times and received his black belt in February 2024. He has been teaching regularly at HCA since May 2019, his passion and self proclaimed obsession with Jiu Jitsu comes across in his friendly teaching style.
